Summary: Just minutes from the town of Breckenridge the French Gulch area provides scenic views and historic sites.
Description: Turk's Trail is the latest in a series of trail construction projects done in partnership with the Town of Breckenridge highlighting local history, unforgettable scenery and great recreational opportunities.
The 1.5 mile long construction of this portion of Turks Trail will enhance skiing, mountain biking and hiking opportunities in the French Gulch area northeast of town. When complete, the trail will help protect the area's abundant native plants and wildlife and will highlight the historic Reiling Dredge, a fascinating part of the Breckenridge's gold mining history.
Volunteers will restore and improve 0.5 miles of existing trail and construct 1.0 mile of new trail. This project will include opportunities to learn basic trail construction, build rock walls and install a new bridge. Camping and showering facilities will be available at the Stephen West Ice Arena. Worksite shuttles will provide transportation for volunteers from the ice arena to the trailhead.
