Summary:
Description: Please join the US Forest Service this summer for a genuinely unique volunteer experience. The Rio Grande National Forest has partnered with Colorado Preservation, Inc. to rehabilitate the historic River Springs Work Center. The first building was originally constructed in 1909 which served as a ranger station. Then in the 1930's, additional structures were added by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) including a ranger house, office, and barn. Despite the Forest Service's admirable efforts to maintain these buildings, time has taken its toll and multiple groups of volunteers will be needed to help transform these dilapidated buildings back to their original splendor. Once the River Springs work site is restored it will be available to the public as affordable rental cabins. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________
We could use your help repainting the building exteriors, repairing water damaged interior walls, and replacing damaged windows. So please come out, learn some history, enjoy the beautiful landscapes and lend a hand. Centrally located attractions include The Great Sand Dunes National Park, Taos, NM, spectacular horseback riding trails, sparkling lakes overflowing with trout and so much more. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(Early arrival is encouraged) There is limited lodging available at the work center, which has electricity and running water (sleeping bags and linens not provided). If you prefer, a camp site is closely located only
