Summary:
Description: The Rio Grande National Forest's Saguache District could use a hand, or two, helping assemble 44 picnic tables. These brand new tables will be used in the area to replace campground tables that have been worn down over the years by wind, weather, and visitor use. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Table tops come in 8' and 12' lengths. Ideally groups of three will work in harmony to construct individual tables with an approximate assembly time of 45 minutes. This project would be excellent for High School students, scout troops, church groups, retired adults, or anyone who is civically mind. All tools will be provided. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Saguache (Ute Indian name pronounced Sa-watch meaning Water at the Blue Earth) is the northern gateway to the San Luis Valley in South Central Colorado. It sits at an elevation of 7800 feet, surrounded by the Sangre de Cristo mountain range on the east and the San Juan range on the west. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Saguache is in close proximity to other interesting destinations such as Weminuche Wilderness, Crestone, CO, and the Orient Land Trust, home of the Valley View Hot Springs. So come to Saguache and volunteer for the day, but stay awhile and explore the beautiful landscape. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
