Summary: The Rio Grande NF is a hidden gem located in southern Colorado.
Description: Do you know the best escape routes from your house and community? Are your gutters swept twice a year? Do you always store firewood away from your home? If you answered "yes" to all of these questions and know their importance, then you are the type of person we are looking for. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Rio Grande National Forest is looking for a few responsible adults to help educate the public about Fire Mitigation and Prevention in the spring of 2010. Ideal candidates should have a background in fire safety (or devoted to learning more), have a clean driving record and a vehicle, talk comfortably & easily in front of groups, as well as have flexibility in their schedule from early April until October 2010. Qualified volunteers will be trained by a representative of the Forest Service in "FireWise" concepts and then will be responsible for traveling to a variety of locations to relay this information to the public. Potential sites include Home Owner Association meetings, campgrounds, and festivals throughout the San Luis Valley. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________
If you are interested in helping the Forest Service improve the public's knowledge in these property and lifesaving techniques then act fast, since space is limited. Interested parties should contact Rob Santoro at (719) 852-6267 or email rob@voc.org
