Summary: Off Family Cow Camp Historic Preservation
Description: Join Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado this summer as we continue our partnership with Colorado Preservation, Inc. and the US Forest Service on a unique public land and historic US Forest preservation project. This year, our project takes us to the Off Family Cow Camp settlement. Constructed in 1915 the Off Cow Camp settlement was used until the late 1970s by the Off family to graze cattle. The three historic log buildings on the premises are currently in a dilapidated state but not beyond repair. Volunteers will replace rotting logs and restore these significant buildings to their initial state. Once the buildings are restored they will be used as rental cabins open to the public.
The Off Family Cow Camp project is one of two HistoriCorps projects featured in 2010.
