Start Date-End Date: 06/01/2010-09/30/2010 Land Manager Office: Land Manager Contact: Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Description: The Rio Grande National Forest is looking for qualified sawyers to assist Forest Service employees clear and buck trees throughout the summer. Due to the bark beetle infestation many trees have fallen onto the trails making them impassable to hikers and horseback riders. If you have received training by USFS and have been officially recommended as a Class A or B sawyer (documentation required), we ask that you please lend a hand clearing these obstructed trails. Or if you have experience felling trees and would like to attend a free USFS crosscut saw training Monday June 14 - Wed June 16 please contact Rob Santoro at (719) 852-6267 or email rob@voc.org Applicants must have a valid First Aid and CPR certification to participate. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Rio Grande National Forest is one of the undiscovered jewels of Colorado located in, the San Luis Valley, about 4 hours south of Denver and 4 hours north of Albuquerque, NM.
