Start Date-End Date: 10/01/2010-09/30/2012 Land Manager Office: Land Manager Contact: Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Assist the Grand Junction Field Office staff, using GPS to monitor resource conditions in relation to travel management planning and implementation. Description: Assist the Grand Junction Field Office staff with field monitoring of resource conditions in relation to travel management planning and implementation. Volunteer will work with Recreation and GIS staff to develop a protocol for collecting GPS data (using BLM GPS receiver) and associated field notes that can be incorporated into a GIS geodatabase.Volunteer will use this protocol when monitoring BLM roads and trails. Volunteer may collect and remove small trash. Volunteer will work with Recreation and GIS staff to develop an alternate protocol for collecting field notes and GPS data for use when the GPS receiver employed does not have data dictionary capabilities. The information collected can be incorporated into a GIS geodatabase or sent for consideration to the appropriate BLM staff. Volunteer will use this alternate protocol when reporting noteworthy resource conditions encountered on BLM land.
