Summary: Site Maintenance and Rabbit Mountain Hike
Description: This month we are partnering with Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center to learn about providing professional care to sick, injured and orphaned wild animals so they can ultimately be return to their natural habitats on Colorado lands. Wildlife rehabilitation is not an attempt to turn wild animals into pets. Patients are held in captivity only until they are able to live independently in the wild. Fear of humans is a necessary survival trait for wild animals and every effort is made to minimize human contact and prevent taming of rehabilitation patients. While at the Greenwood, Cairn participants will be working as Site Maintenance and Animal Care Volunteers - which could include but not limited to landscaping, weed whacking, squirrel box assembly, food preparation, hand feeding baby wildlife, cleaning cages, maintaining a clean hospital environment, refreshing food and water in outdoor enclosures and a variety of other duties as specified by staff supervisors.
