Start Date-End Date: 09/17/2011-09/17/2011 Land Manager Office: Land Manager Contact: Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: The Urban Farm - Gardening, Weeding, Stall Mucking Description: This month we are partnering with The Urban Farm (TUF) at Stapleton to learn about urban agriculture and what it takes to grow local produce and maintain livestock in an urban area. There are many environmental, health and community benefits to growing food on a local scale and we will learn how TUF is promoting local food production and community involvement through their program. This project will offer the opportunity to get your hands dirty in the garden, with the animals or within their orchards as well as be a give you a chance to meet one another and begin working as a team. At TUF you could be harvesting vegetables, cleaning stalls, planting orchards, and landscaping or even exercise animals amongst many other things. We will contribute our skills and motivation to making this public space better for the community to utilize in a variety of ways.
