Summary: Help VOC restore a campground destroyed by the pine beetle and violent wind storms
Description: FAMILY FRIENDLY
Join VOC to help restore the Jim Creek Campground in Winter Park. The campground, managed by the Sports Center for the Disabled, has been seriously affected by the Pine Beetle epidemic and subsequent wind storms. Help plant trees, repair tent platforms, and perform some light trail restoration and repair work.
If you are registering youth, please indicate the age(s) of the children in the comments section of registration.
There is no fee for this project. Free camping will be available to volunteers on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18. Saturday breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Additional Information: Jim Creek campground is not really a public campground and finding the road in if one is not familiar with it is a little challenging. no signage at the car turnoff, only at the on foot trailhead. future projects should keep this in mind re communications if people are planning to camp.

Description of Work Completed: About 50 people total planted 28 four foot trees (aspen and lodgepoles), transplanted about 120 trees from surrounding forest, built 35 feet of turnpike to correct a drainage issues, spread crusher fine over about 500 feet of ADA trail and raked the entire campground into slash piles for burning. NSCD folks provided breakfast and a catered lunch and were very happy to have the work done by VOC volunteers.
