Description: Are you interested in expanding your outdoor leadership and technical skills? Do you want to meet other outdoor enthusiasts and get to camp overnight in a brand new state park not even opened to the public? Join VOC^s Outdoor Stewardship Institute for a unique Crew Leadership for Trails Training at the soon-to-open Staunton State Park. &&&br##&&&br##
This two-day training will introduce the fundamentals of successful volunteer crew management for the construction and maintenance of sustainable trails. Through classroom sessions, field exercises and role-playing you^ll learn and practice construction and maintenance of sustainable trails, leadership strategies and techniques, tool use, and safety. All trainees will receive a Crew Leader manual, a set of quick reference cards, and other materials that make for a successful crew leadership experience. All training topics are directly applicable to any non-profit or agency trail maintenance or construction project! This workshop is best for individuals who have had experience working on trail projects or previous group leadership experiences. &&&br##&&&br##
This special training will include meals, community building activities, and an overnight camping experience. This is a great opportunity to gain leadership experience and credentials while meeting like-minded people in a fun, outdoor setting!
Camping is provided Friday night through Sunday afternoon. Meals are provided beginning with Saturday morning breakfast and ending with Sunday lunch. &&&br##&&&br##
There is a $60 fee for this training. The cost is lowered to $10 for youth corps members and individuals who have volunteered on at least 3 VOC projects.
