VOLUNTEER PROJECT: WHAT AND WHY
Camp Hale wasestablished in 1942 as awinter and warfare training ground for World WarII.In order to build the training facility at Camp Hale, the Eagle River was channelized and thesurrounding wetlands were drained. We will be doing streambank enhancement work on the Eagle River in an effort to improve watershed health and wildlife habitat.Our work will primarily consist of planting willows along the streambanks which will help control erosion and createbetter habitat forfish andother wildlife.
