The Echo Lake Picnic Shelter was constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and exhibits typical CCC-era characteristics including the use of cobblestones and cedar shingle roofing. It is sheltered between pine trees and willows. The shelter has always been used as a picnic shelter for the surrounding campground. VOLUNTEER PROJECT - WHAT & WHY The Echo Lake Picnic Shelter suffers from deferred maintenance and requires a new cedar shingle roof. Volunteers will repair deteriorated roof decking, install a new cedar shingle roof, and apply stain to exposed wood. Pervious construction experience is not required, but is encouraged.
