Summary: 60 middle school students and teachers will be doing a weed warrior project on Monday, September 17th from 9-1 near the swim beach at Chatfield State Park. The students will receive an educational component prior to the start of the project to go over the 4 invasive species we are targeting for the day: Diffuse Knapweed, Mullein, Toadflax, and Thistle.

Over 60 students from the National Junior Honors Society Club at Goddard Middle School spent their morning giving back to Colorado’s natural resources at Chatfield State Park. These youth volunteers, worked very hard to dispose of dalmatian toadflax, diffuse knapweed, thistle, and mullein. They counted over 100 trash bags worth of weeds by the end of the day! Their work will help support native species in the park – both plants and animals.
