Summary: Help restore the Howard Trail at scenic Lory State Park near Fort Collins.
Description:
STEWARDSHIP SITE
Close to Ft. Collins, Lory State Park offers beautiful foothills scenery and opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, and more. The 2-mile Howard Trail at Lory State Park winds through forested mountainsides and an open meadow to intersect with the Timber Trail near the summit of Arthur's Rock. It is one of the more challenging and rewarding trails for mountain biking and horseback riding in the park. The views to the east overlooking Horsetooth Reservoir and the City of Ft. Collins are spectacular.
VOLUNTEER PROJECT - WHAT & WHY
Help maintain the Howard Trail by doing heavy-duty, big-rock work to repair and improve retaining walls and switchbacks. We will work with natural materials in the area for long-term sustainability. There will be a 1-2 mile hike to the worksite each day.
