Summary: Help celebrate National Public Lands Day by helping out with the construction of the Palisade Rim Trail. This new trail system, which was officially opened in April 2012, takes hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers to the top of the Palisade Rim, offering sweeping views of Palisade and the east end of the Grand Valley. An eight-mile trail system is eventually planned for the area.
Description:
Work will focus on 6 sections needing rock work. Additional work will be trail reconstruction on the section that connects upper and lower loops, focusing on finalizingi or improving areas of the trail that are soft or poorly formed. This section of trail needs wider bench, gentler backslopes, etc. Work sites are between 2.75 - 4 miles from the trailhead, with a significant climbing grade involved in the hike.
