Description: STEWARDSHIP SITE Once a prosperous rangeland, the Berry Creek area north of the town of Edwards is now a wilderness area popular with bikers and hikers alike. This open, sagebrush habitat is also home to a wide variety of alpine Colorado wildlife. VOLUNTEER PROJECT - WHAT & WHY Dilapidated fences are the last vestiges of the area's ranching past. These fallen barbed wire fences create hazards for deer, elk, and other animals. Volunteers will be removing as much rangeland fence as possible to improve conditions for local wildlife.
