Description of Work Completed:
55 youth volunteers between the ages of 9 and 12 assisted in general farm maintenance and upkeep at the Urban Farm in Stapleton on March 26th. Students received a tour before going to work in the extremely muddy conditions. They helped mulch over 30 fruit trees, mucked 2 animal stalls, and fed and watered over 30 animals. Through their hard work, the farm is better prepared for the Spring season to help sustain the fruit trees, as well as better take care of the numerous animals they have onsite Despite being muddy, students worked hard and enjoyed their service at the Urban Farm as part of their Spring Break with the Boys and Girls Club.
55 students (9-12 years old) helped mulch a fruit orchard (that VOC planted about 2 years ago), mucked two horse stalls, as well as fed/watered approximately 30 animals.
