Start Date-End Date: 01/01/2013-10/15/2013 Land Manager Office: USFS - Salida Ranger District Land Manager Contact: Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Members of Upper Arkansas Wilderness Volunteers will provide a presence in the Wilderness by hiking the trails and share information with visitors as they request it, or as necessary for the protection and preservation of the Wilderness. Volunteers will provide information to the Forest Service about trail conditions and visitor contacts. They may perform light trail maintenance within the volunteers' level of comfort and training, including brush clearing, limbing, clearing trees from the trail, and light tread work. They perform light trail maintenance and report any major problems to the FS for project work. They also make public contacts to backcountry visitors, patrol and maintain backcountry campsites and survey trailheads, trails and riparian areas for noxious weeds.
