Description of Work Completed:
On July 20, 2013, 12 adult volunteers associated with Wilderness Volunteers met at Holy Cross Ranger Station in Minturn, where they had a lesson in proper material packing for a horse. On July 21, they headed out to Grouse Creek where they spent 7 days in the wilderness of White River National Forest, constructing a turnpike. Horses frequently use the trail up to Grouse Creek and a part of wetland area had become severely damaged, needing the addition of a turnpike. They were successful in the construction and the USFS is pleased with the results.
