Join VOC and Colorado Native for an afternoon of habitat restoration activities at Denver's Commons Park.
Description:
STEWARDSHIP SITE
Flanked by the South Platte River, Commons Park's west edge emphasizes the river's natural character with native grasses and wetlands. In contrast, the east side of the park's features are more urban and make a connection to downtown Denver. This park is a very popular destination for walkers, bikers, and swimmers.
VOLUNTEER PROJECT- WHAT & WHY
Join VOC and Colorado Native for an afternoon at Denver's Commons Park. Volunteers will be participating in a handful of habitat restoration activities including native tree and shrub planting, beaver mitigation, and trail restoration.
Parking is extremely limited please consider alternative modes of transportation.
Project will be followed by a volunteer appreciationhappy hour at Jacksons 1520 sponsored by Colorado Native. 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

On Saturday August 17th65 volunteers attended the Habitat Restoration @ Commons Park with Colorado Native. Volunteers were able to plant 75 native trees, shrubs, and wetland plants. Remove 15 bags or trash as well as 4 acres of weeds, tree suckers, and willows, In addition to limbing 30 trees throughout the park. Volunteer's efforts helped clean up the park, establish more native vegitation, and make the park safer through removing overgrown vegitation. After the project CO Native sponsored a happy hour at Jacksons 1520 bar.
