Description of Accidents/Incidents:
One student was crying because she didn't feel well. She relaxed in the shade the remainder of the project and care was provided through the Rocky Mountain Farmer Union staff. She opted NOT to go inside into the air conditioning...but seemed to regain her composure towards the end of the project.
Description of Work Completed:
33 high school students from the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union Camp and their 8 camp counselors joined VOC at the Urban Farm in Stapleton on Tuesday, June 11th for a morning of urban agriculture education and stewardship of agricultural/farming resources. A few students assembled bee boxes for the farm's new honey bee farm, a few students fed all the animals breakfast, and others efficiently mucked five horse stalls in just under 2 hours. The students accomplished over 200 hours of service over the course of the morning, providing much needed support of the Urban Farm to help them continue to provide resources to underserved populations and communities in need. Check outhttp://theurbanfarm.org/ for more information on upcoming camps, festivals, or how to get involved in urban agriculture stewardship.
