Start Date-End Date: 10/22/2013-10/22/2013 Land Manager Office: USFS - Rio Grande National Forest Land Manager Contact: Mike Blakeman Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: collaborative project with RWEACT(RioGrande Watershead Emergency Action Team, the Rio Grande National Forest and local VOC volunteers. Description: Volunteers will be seeding, raking and mulching in several experimental revegetation test plots in two different locations with in the burned area of the West Fork Fire Complex. The purpose of the plots is to determine which kind of mulching and seeding methods will work best for restoration in the West Fork Complex Burned Area. Volunteers will spread and rake in a seed mix, then cover it with either a pellet mulch or wood straw made from beetle kill lodge pole pine, hydro-mulch, or do nothing(for a control). One site is on private property at the Crooked Creek sub-development and the other is on the Divide Ranger District of the Rio Grande National Forest just off FS Rd. 520 near the Rio Grande Resivoir.
