These high-school aged and recent high school graduates spent their morning caging 400+ feet worth of cottonwood trees along Sand Creek to help prevent damage from beavers and other creek critters! The afternoon was dedicated to water ecology, with the group exploring macro invertebrates and other fauna along the creek. VOC, the Sand Creek Regional Greenway, and Teamworks will be meeting every Wednesday between now and mid-August for the first ever "Youth SWAT Series" - where participants get to be a part of an ongoing stewardship initiative on one site for multiple weeks, as well as receive environmental education and also information on careers in Natural Resources as part of the Sand Creek Regional Greenway's NextGen Program.
