Key Concerns or Comments from Staff or Volunteers: None Description of Accidents/Incidents: None Description of Work Completed: As part of their 4 part SWAT Series, the FlyFisher Group's Teamworks Youth Corps consisting of 25 youth and 5 mentors met up at the Smith Rd Trailhead along the Sand Creek Regional Greenway for a short day of cottonwood tree painting. The group mixed sand, latex paint, and water to create a gritty concoction to paint on the trees. The sandy texture of the paint deters beavers from chomping down the trees into the nearby creek. Over the course of their 5 hour work day, the hardworking group painting well over 30 trees along the greenway. Just before lunch, the group also received a fun and motivating talk from Scott Segerstrom from the Colorado Youth Corps Association (CYCA) to discuss careers in natural resources as part of the NextGen portion of Teamworks' volunteer day.
