STEWARDSHIP SITE
Observatory Park, home to the University of Denver's historic Chamberlin Observatory, is a small but open park tucked out of sight just east of the DU campus. In addition to the Observatory which hosts public events from time to time, the park features an extensive playground area, open fields perfect for picnicking ora pickup game of Frisbee.
VOLUNTEER PROJECT - WHAT & WHY
Join VOC for a spring evening of planting an Edible Public Demonstration Garden in Denver's Oberservatory Park! This project is one of several where we will be planting vegetable gardens in Denver City Parks, whose purpose is to demonstrate the beauty of edible gardens, engage community participation, and inspire Denver citizens to grow their own vegetable gardens. The produce harvested from this project will be donated to organizations that help individuals in need. Volunteer work will be fun, easy, and child-friendly.Tasks will involve preparing the garden beds, weeding, working the soil, and planting vegetable seeds and seedlings.
