Visitors to the reservoir enjoy a range of activities including boating, camping, hiking, and fishing. VOLUNTEER PROJECT - WHAT & WHY This long-awaited trail construction project will complete the final 1.5 miles of the Besant Point Trail, a natural surface trail on the east side of Pinewood Reservoir. Volunteers will work to connect the Blue Mountain and Ramsay-Shockey Open Space trailheads to the Windy Pines Campground, providing access for campers to the larger trail system. The trail will include a short segment that is wheelchair accessible, and thus a hardened trail surface. Volunteers will also work to construct 3 small trails in the campground's backcountry campsites. The project went well and we were able to complete 1700' of new multi use trail for hikers, bikers, and equestrian users. The project originally had over 70 volunteers registered each day, last minute cancellations and attrition contributed to a much lower volunteer number on the project day but the agency was still very happy with the amount of work completed and the quality of trail built.
