Several abandoned quarry sites in the area are the source of the stone that built many of the historic buildings in Monte Vista and other surrounding towns. Unique rock formations, sweeping panoramic views of the San Luis Valley, and the towering Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range all come together here, creating a picturesque landscape.
