Project Summary: On Monday, June 22nd, 11 volunteers from the Boys & Girls Club of Weld County came to St. Vrain State Park to help with weed mitigation. The group worked really hard to help eradicate 3 acres of weeds in highly visible areas in the park.
Successes and Challenges: The group was really hard working, but were ready to go by the end of the day. Playing a game as a break may have helped them ot re-focus.
Lessons Learned: Competition really motivated these kids! We set up a race, to see who could get the most weeds out of a certain area in a few minutes, and they got the work done very quickly.
Special Notes:
Stewardship Education: Provided by park staff and VOC staff-- talked about why the work is important, and why caring about public land's is in everyone's interest.
