Description: Students from the Boys and Girls Club of Weld County will come out to St. Vrain State Park to help with invasive weed mitigation. The group worked really hard to help eradicate 3 acres of weeds in highly visible areas in the park. Successes and Challenges: The group was really hard working, but were ready to go by the end of the day. Playing a game as a break may have helped them ot re-focus. Lessons Learned: Competition really motivated these kids! We set up a race, to see who could get the most weeds out of a certain area in a few minutes, and they got the work done very quickly. Special Notes: Stewardship Education: Provided by park staff and VOC staff-- talked about why the work is important, and why caring about public land's is in everyone's interest.
