LHOC is Boulder County's high school group, and it was a lot of fun for the students to get an opportunity to meet new people, while doing meaningful work. The day started out with some ice breakers and a presentation from Boulder County's wildlife biologist/natural resource manager on why we were doing this project, and what impact it would have on the wildlife in the area. The kids worked hard to remove the barbed wire fencing that was dangerous to both the wildlife, and people recreating in the canyon. They built 250 feet of sustainable "worm" fencing with pre-cut logs. They had to haul the logs, and nail them into place. Successes and Challenges: At the end of the day, people were running out of tasks. Would have been better to have one other task, like mullein removal. The ice breakers at the beginning of the day were a lot of fun, and helped to facilitate a good working environment between the two groups.
