The students, from Lake's service learning program, worked on two projects, spreading mulch on the trail that rings the park, and creating native grass "seed balls" that park staff can store and use to promote growth of native plant life in the park. Students were also treated to a tour of the grounds by park staff. Successes and Challenges: This was a group with minimal exposure to the outdoors, let alone outdoor steardship. However, they were great, motivated kids who took to the work with gusto and seemed to have a lot of fun. Lessons Learned: None. Very smooth project. Special Notes: Lake International (contact is Caitlyn Mergendahl) will be a great group to engage in the future. Stewardship Education: An educational tour was provided for the group by park staff.
