Summary: Help reroute this popular trail just minutes from Denver!
Description: ABOUT THE STEWARDSHIP SITE
O'Fallon Mountain Park is part of the Denver Mountain Park network and provides Front Range residents with superb hiking opportunities only 25 minutes from downtown. The area's rolling hills, flower-filled meadows, ponderosa pines, and great views reward users with a gorgeous mountain escape from city life.
ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER WORK
Volunteers will help reroute an overused trail that has fallen into disrepair. The reroute will create a sustainable trail that will provide a much more enjoyable experience for all users and reduce erosion and its negative effects on the surrounding habitat.
A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Project Summary: On May 2nd 74 volunteers came out to help take part in the O'Fallon trail reroute. This project is a major priority for Denver Mountain Parks. The group was able to complete 2700 feet of trail (a little over a half of a mile) which was 1000 more feet that DMP had expected! Volunteers worked so efficiently that the land manager had to lay out more trail so the group did not run out of work. This project was the 1st of our 6 special initiative projects for the season. We had a good number of younger volunteers on this project and pitched the Cairn youth program as well as the badge program. It was a good day of trail building that resulted in happy volunteers and a happy land manager.
Successes and Challenges: We had a great volunteer turn out on this project. Only a few no shows and we were able to compelete 1000 feet of additional trail.
