Project Summary: On Friday, Oct. 30, 50 juniors from SkyView Academy came out to Chatfield State Park for the second year in a row with CYL and VOC. This project was part of their "Legacy Day" to get kids interested and caring about volunteering in their communities. The juniors helped to finish a crusher fines trail that was washed out by flooding along the South Platte River, and were able to complete 158 feet.
Successes and Challenges: Allison was not present, due to a family funeral. She made sure that everyone involved knew their role, had contact info, and timing for the day. She wrote out talking points for everyone involved.
Lessons Learned:
Special Notes:
Stewardship Education: History of the park/flooding provided by park staff, and stewardship education provided by VOC staff.
Key Concerns or Comments from Staff or Volunteers: Site was changed at the last minute. The previous site had more prep work that needed to be done, and the kids would have had to haul crusher fines longer distances.
