Visitors to the park enjoy sweeping panoramic views of the Front Range to the east and the rugged Rocky Mountains to the west. The park also boasts abundant wildlife, stunning rock formations, and Van Bibber Creek to the south. ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER WORK The September 2013 floods severely impacted White Ranch Park, eroding and washing out many of the park's most popular trails. Access to the work site will require a 1-2 mile hike. A free light breakfast and lunch will be provided. OTHER WAYS TO HELP It's not all sweat and toil! White Ranch Park sits just north of Golden and with its 20 miles of trail and abundant wildlife, is an outdoor lover's haven by providing endless recreational opportunities.Unfortunately, the September 2013 floods severely impacted White Ranch Park, eroding and washing out many of the park's most popular trails, and volunteers were needed to take part in critical flood restoration efforts. On this project, 66 volunteers pitched in for the day to rehabilitate the Longhorn Trail's many drainage structures and install new timber check steps to control soil erosion. Impressively, volunteers were able to restore and maintain 31 waterbars and install 30 check steps! Crews also accomplished some impressive rock work, installing two sections of new rock steps in tricky and eroded portions of the popular mountain biking route. Successes and Challenges: This project was reshceduled to May 30th after a late spring snow forced cancellation of the original April date.
