We only worked for the morning, because it grew hot pretty quickly. We were getting rid of musk thistle and bindweed, and worked over two acres. After we were done weeding, the kids got a tour of the entire Xeriscape garden from the staff at Aurora Water. Successes and Challenges: There were two main challenges. First, it was very hot and there is very little shade at the garden. The second challenge was that the woman from the Aurora Water staff (not Diana--one of her employees) that was leading the tour was very monotonous. The kids were ages 10-14, and clearly were antsy, but she didn't know how to present well to this age group. Lessons Learned: Don't try to do an in-depth tour with kids! Special Notes: Stewardship Education: Extensive information about xeriscape gardening and Colorado's water supply was talked about by Aurora Water staff.
