The weeds were thick, and the garden needed a lot of attention. They also put mulch around all the plants, both for a nice aesthetic, and to keep moisture locked in. Successes and Challenges: The weather turned out to be pretty nice -- a nice overcast that kept the heat down. There is no shade at PLC, so summer projects can be a challenge. Lessons Learned: Working in the demonstration garden was rewarding -- the difference the kids made was visible, so there was instant gratification. Special Notes: Stewardship Education: Provided by PLC staff. Talked about the garden, and it's importance and native plants.
