We went on a tour of our final project site, to get an idea of what the project is. Unfortunately, it had snowed the night before into that morning, so we couldn't do some of the prep work we had planned on doing. After the site visit, we headed over to Chatfield's maintenance shed. There, the park operations manager, Jen Anderson, gave us a talk on the history and use of the park. We talked a little bit about why the reservoir was built in the first place, and some career development points. Then, we spent about 2.5 hrs going through crew leader training. Dan Williams, Training Manager, came to help lead this for the specialized Crew Leader group. Successes and Challenges: Snow from the previous night ruined our plans to prep the project site by trimming back shrubs, however we still got a good glimpse of the site. The crew leader training went really well, and the shortened version that Dan and I came up with hit on a lot of pertinent topics, without being too dry. Lessons Learned: Keep the shortened Crew Leader training. Everyone said they got something out of it, and made them feel better prepared for the final project day. Special Notes: Stewardship Education: Provided by Chatfield State Park employees and VOC staff.
