Project Summary: On Tuesday, May 16th, 10 volunteers from the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver came out to Civic Center Park in downtown Denver to help Grow Local Colorado plant their vegetable gardens. The vegetables grown in these gardens will be donated to the Gathering Place, which is a drop-in center for women, children and transgenders experiencing poverty and homelessness. The kids from BGCMD had a lot of energy, and were excited to help plant (and for the Chipotle burritos).
Successes and Challenges: Had some great conversations with kids about growing food. Weather was a bit spotty, but the project was short and we got all the work done.
