As the day grew warmer, the entire group grabbed a few trash bags and took a walk around the park to look for any errant debris that may have blown inadvertantly in the wind. Volunteers were greeted to large swarms of butterflies around the flower gardens and many words of gratitude from the large quantities of park users on such a beautiful day. The group rounded out the day completing the mulch work around the recreation center in Washinglton Park. As lunch time approached and bodies began to feel pangs of hunger, we returned to the Eugene Field House and added some final touches to the landscape. Special Notes: Rachel Durkan (park horticulturist) will be leaving soon. Stewardship Education: Explanations regarding why it is important for everyone to make an effort, and an emphasis on how each individual can make an impact.
