This was a family friendly (ages 6+) that took place at Westwood Park in partnership with Denver Parks and Rec. We had 7 families and 4 individuals show up for this evening project. The families mulched the trees around the park, and a few painted some of the trash recepticles. This was a hard working group desipite some late arrivals and the work was done quickly- 3 hours for everything was perfect timing. A dinner of burritos and tamales were a big hit! Many of the families stayed and enjoyed the park after the project was finished. Successes and Challenges: Having the two connectors present from Westwood Unidos was key for translation purposes. The connectors also played a huge role in getting the families out to the event. The langauge barrier. According to Westwood Unidos it is really difficult to get members of the community to "pre-register" so it was kind of a guessing game as to how many people would show up. Lessons Learned: Special Notes: Red Pork Tamales are a FAVORITE! Stewardship Education: Key Concerns or Comments from Staff or Volunteers: Description of Accidents/Incidents: Description of Work Completed:
