Project Summary: 30 Students from Challenge Middle School came to Cherry Creek State Park for a day of service. The project was an invasive species removal project focused primarily on common mullein, but also included some thistle removal.
The students worked together to remove 3 acres of mullein from the North West side of the park and learned about some of the migratory birds that use the reservoir as their temporary habitat.
Successes and Challenges: We had to end the program early and did not get to the lake clean-up portion of the afternoon due lightening danger from the sever thunderstorm that rolled in around 12:45.
