On April 3 I conducted a classroom session to teach the kids about citizen science, phenology, how it tracks climate changes and how to do actual data collection on various plants. April 4 was a field day. I was joined by Tanner Dutton, range specialist anf Mike Blakeman, RGNF Public Affairs Specialist, to help the 11 kids do field data collection on a variety of trees, shrubs, forbs and grasses. This data goes into the database used by the RGNF for monitoring data on climate variability.
