Project Summary: BLM Penitente Canyon Care Day - April 7 - engaged 23 community members in 4 hours of work at PC to cut and clean out shrubbery along overgrown canyon trails for hikers and rock climbers. Several trailer loads worth of woody debris were removed from the canyon and hauled away. Participants included community members, members of the Adams State University rock climbing team and students at ASU in an outdoor leadership course. These students did a morning session with Clayton Davey of the BLM to talk about trail work and sustainable trail design practices before joining in with the other volunteers as part of their class curriculum.
