We were able to spend 3 hours at Genesee Challenge Course with the 68 8th graders who attended the project and they had a blast. Most of the students stayed captivated for the whole time, and really enjoyed freely roaming from each different element in the course. There were 19 students that chose to hike and/or didn't have waivers, which caused some complaints, but overall these students also had a good time just walking around and being at Genesee. We cancelled the presentation that we were going to have back at the school because the group was about 30 minutes late arriving at Genesee and so we stayed 30 minutes later. Ms. Douma still received the certificates to give to the students, and I think the extra time at Genesee was well spent. Successes and Challenges: - Teachers and students loved Genesee! - Students stayed very engaged compared to other projects - While those who didn't have waivers just had to hang out, I think it was nice still being able to hang at Genesee - Having 8 chaperones (and nearly 12 or so DPR staff was AMAZING and allowed one on one focus and attention to the students) Lessons Learned: Special Notes: Stewardship Education: Key Concerns or Comments from Staff or Volunteers: Description of Accidents/Incidents: Description of Work Completed:
