Description: Where You'll Be:
The peaceful South San Juan Wilderness covers over 150,000 acres in Southern Colorado and its Treasure Creek Trail is a stunning and remote route, passing a deep creek, rock cliffs, swimming holes, and an alpine basin to make its way up to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDNST). The area is important habitat for bighorn sheep and offers stunning views of the San Juan Mountains.
What You'll Do:
On this three-day project, you'll work with 30 adult volunteers divided into two crews of 15 people each. There will be a variety of work to enjoy including re-establishing a half-mile of the trail that has literally disappeared into the landscape, installing signs, clearing downed trees, installing rock check dams, constructing small cairns, and closing social trails. Scenic views will reward you for your efforts and meals will be provided by our volunteer Crew Chef.
Please note that due to the remote nature of this project, you are required to register for all three days of the project.
Why It Matters:
With limited management resources and its remote location, this area in the Wilderness has become highly neglected, with sections of the Treasure Creek Trail disappearing into the landscape. By re-establishing the trail, your efforts will ensure that this trail remains safe, sustainable, and accessible for hikers and equestrians to enjoy this gorgeous part of Colorado.

All days are requireddue to the remote location of the project.
Volunteers are responsible for providing their own camping equipment.VOC will provide meals, tools, and work gloves.
