Start Date-End Date: 06/12/2020-06/12/2020 Land Manager Office: Brighton, City of Land Manager Contact: Bob Woods Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Continue supporting the Mattive Open Spaces return to native species and natural landscape by doing some gardening in the garden beds! Description: Where You'll Be: One of the City of Brighton's largest Open Spaces, Mattive is easily accessible by its neighboring communities. Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado has hosted projects here in years past to establish garden beds and pollinator gardens. What You'll Do: On this Friday morning project, we'll continue working in the garden beds, doing some maintenance weeding, replacing mulch, some light planting, and helping the staff from the Butterfly Pavilion do a species survey. The Butterfly Pavillion will be thanking volunteers with free passes! Why It Matters: The long term plan for Mattive is to nurture it back to a landscape with native plants that is self sufficient. It needs continued support to be sure the proper plants are established and strong. Need-to-Know Details: Minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or olderon single-day projects. VOC will provide all equipmentincluding tools and work gloves. Cancellation:Our partners rely on VOC volunteers to accomplish critical stewardship needs, and our projects often have wait lists.
