Where You'll Be:
Just west of Denver and Morrison is Corwina Park, 298 acres of the protected open space spread throughout Bear Creek Canyon. The popular Panorama Point Trail is approximately a 1.2-mile hike that leads to a gorgeous overlook offering views that span west toward Mount Evans overlooking Kittridge and Evergreen.
What You'll Do:
Close to Denver, this project is a great opportunity to explore natural areas close to home and give back to your public lands. Spend Friday and/or Saturday working on a trail reroute to improve the sustainability of this popular trail in Corwina Park. Please note this project requires a 45-minute hike to the project site.
Why It Matters:
By rerouting Panorama Point Trail, you will create a safer and more sustainable experience for hikers that will protect the unique cross-section of plant communities and habitat in this deservedly popular and wonderfully accessible natural space getaway.

Project Summary: With just one small crew on Friday, volunteers closed 150 feet of trail and cut a new 25-foot trail connection to the Bear Creek Trail, then moved on to some heavy maintenance tasks further up the Panorama Point trail. With such high use, much of the Panorama Point trail has become overly wide, eroded, and too outsloped. Friday volunteers began to address these concerns and Saturday's larger group continued. By the end of the two days, we successfully re-graded 300 total feet of trail. Volunteers used rocks, dirt, and downed branches to riprap/rubble in sections of trail that were too wide. We also installed a small rock retaining wall.
