This year we went to St. Vrain State Park and kicked the project off with some Campsite restoration. Students added gravel to 19 campsites (#6-24) around the shelters, firepits, and especially under the picnic tables where the fabric is appearing and dirt is being revealed. Once the campsite rehab was complete, students focused on corridor clearing overgrown sumac and coyote willow from over 1500 feet of ADA accessible trail that goes around Mallard Pond. Students also created 4 new fishing access "trails" along the Southwest bank of Pelican Pond. Successes and Challenges: Not enough work for students. WRV scheduled this project opportunity, and it did not seem like they had done a site visit to ensure we would have enough quality work for the students. This would have been easily remedied with a shorter work day and or if the park had been able to provide more gravel material.
