Description

Start Date-End Date: 10/22/2022-10/22/2022 Land Manager Office: Land Manager Contact: Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Help us put tools to bed and get ready for the 2023 project season! Description: Where You'll Be: VOC's San Luis Valley tool cache is in Monte Vista, and is home to a plethora of project equipment from tools to kitchen supplies! It is located at the Rio Grande National Forest administrative site, which is right behind the Best Western Movie Manor outside of town. What You'll Do: The San Luis Valley's first ever OcTOOLberfest is a great way to celebrate the successes of the season and prepare for the next one with fellow volunteers and VOC staff (Katie). We are enlisting the help of volunteers to help clean and organize the tool cache as well as clean, sharpen, paint and repair tools. Spending a bit of time to winterize tools in the fall will have big payoffs in the spring and ensure that our tools are in great shape for the start of next season! This event also includes a fun potluck to help everyone keep their energy up! More info to come once you register. Anyone that attends a VOC volunteer opportunity in August, September, and October will be entered in a drawing for the chance to win a $300 SCHEELS Gift Card. The more opportunities you attend, the more entries you will earn. Good luck! Why It Matters: A well-cared-for tool is a safe tool! Dozens of projects each year take a toll on tools and equipment, and by the end of the season, they're in need of some TLC. By helping us care for these tools and put them to bed for winter, you'll help prepare VOC for a safe and successful 2023 project season.
