Description

Start Date-End Date: 09/14/2022-09/14/2022 Land Manager Office: City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Land Manager Contact: Beau Clark Funding Partner: Programmatic Partner: Summary: Improve a popular mountain biking trail on this Wednesday project. Description: Please note: this project was formerly scheduled to include work on the Skunk Canyon Trail, but has since shifted. For an updated scope of work, please see below. Where You'll Be: Arguably one of Boulder's most frequented mountain bike trails, the multi-use Doudy Draw Trail takes visitors through open stands of ponderosa pines and offers views of Eldorado Canyon, Bear Peak, South Boulder Peak, and the Flatirons. Part of a larger trail system, this trail is also home to high-value grass and meadow ecology. What You'll Do: Spend your Wednesday working to restore the Doudy Draw Trail to a more sustainable state. On this project of approximately 50 people, you'll help by performing basic trail repairs, resurfacing some sections that are more prone to muddy conditions, and building bike-friendly drainage structures to help erosion. Anyone that attends a VOC volunteer opportunity in August, September, and October will be entered in a drawing for the chance to win a $300 SCHEELS Gift Card. The more opportunities you attend, the more entries you will earn. Good luck! Why It Matters: This project has been deferred for many years due to competing priorities, so your time will be a huge help to make this trail restoration happen! Over the past few years, the trail has widened significantly and erosion has led to muddy conditions, which further degrade the trail.
